Kibo Hut

Kibo Huts is the final base camp on Mount Kilimanjaro’s Marangu Route, located at approximately 4,700 metres above sea level in the alpine desert zone. Positioned between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi, the camp offers a stark yet dramatic landscape with sweeping views and a true high-altitude experience.

The huts provide basic dormitory-style accommodation with minimal facilities, as climbers prepare for the summit attempt to Uhuru Peak. Due to the altitude, temperatures can drop significantly, and the environment is arid and exposed, adding to the challenge and adventure of the climb.

Kibo Huts serves as the starting point for the midnight summit push, making it one of the most memorable stops on the Kilimanjaro journey. Trekkers rest here before beginning their ascent to Gilman’s Point and ultimately Uhuru Peak.
